There are number of differing solutions depending the Barcode type (symbology) required.

Each barcode type has different properties and facilities, and will generally be used for differing purposes.

Take a more detailed look at the individual barcodes to find the right one and an associated solution. 

Some barcodes type are know by different names, so may lead to the same product.

1-Dimensional (Linear) Barcodes 

Code 128, EAN 128, UCC 128, GS1 128

Code 39, Code 39 Extended, Code 93

EAN-8, EAN-13 - Used in European Retail

ISBN, ISSN - Used for Publications

2 of 5, Interleaved 2 of 5, Industrial 2 of 5 - (Numerical)

ITF14, Codabar, MSI

Others: DUN14, Logmars, HIBC, Bookland, IATA, etc

Postal Barcodes:

Royal Mail 4 State, PostNet, USZIP, KIX,  French Postal, German Postal,

Australian 4 State, Singapore 4 State

2-Dimensional Barcodes:

PDF417, Datamatrix, Aztec, QR Code, Maxicode, GS1 Databar, RSS-14, Codablock-F

OCR & MICR Fonts:

OCR-A, OCR-B, CMC-7, MICR (E13B), OMR Marks
