Overview
OCR fonts are used for Optical Charater Recognition
OCR Optical character recognition fonts include OCR-A and OCR-B. OCR-B was designed by Adrian Frutiger and in addition to being machine readable, it is also very visually pleasing and may be used for non-automated applications.
MICR Magnetic Ink Character Recognition is generally used in banking because magnetic ink produces the most reliable reading. E-13B was the first magnetic font produced for automatic banking, and can usually be found at the bottom of cheques for encoding account information.
CMC-7 is an Alternative font used in Europe
OCR Fonts are available for PC, MAC and in PCL format for printers.
PC version supplied as PC Truetype and PC Postscript fonts (Type 1 and Type 3)
Postscript fonts can then be used in Unix systems.
MAC version supplied as MAC Postscript fonts.
PCL version supplied as PCL5 printer fonts
